Celebrating a year of success, Bollywood Style!
Over 150 staff were encouraged to dress ‘Bollywood’ style, for which we saw the likes of the Indian cricket team, Indian princesses’ and even Mahatma Gandhi himself (just to name a few)!
Guests were greeted by fire breathers and flame throwers as they entered the venue, through a forest of Indian palms and candlelight. The venue was adorned with vibrant pink, blue and yellow drapes flowing from above, creating the perfect setting in a modern authentic Indian Raj tent.
Dimmed house lights and bold red up lighting accented unique Indian props, such as oversized gold vases, rustic genie lamps and minarets. Authentic Indian canapés such as homemade paneer tikka, vegetable aloo bonda and lamb boti kebabs roamed the room as the richness of the Indian festivities grew throughout the evening.
In addition, guests enjoyed a traditional n Indian buffet laden with a variety of curries, breads and dips. Set in a corner of the room, guests dined in an oasis of floor rugs, cushions and Indian lamps –a rather unique dining experience.
Freshly mixed cardamom based cocktails and watermelon mojitos helped cool their pallet throughout the evening. Guests also had the (very optional) opportunity to handle a live carpet snake, receive an authentic henna tattoo or sit back and enjoy a traditional Bollywood film played on screens throughout the evening.
Following the award formalities, guests were entertained by a traditional Indian belly and sword dancer, with the opportunity to get take part and follow the dance moves throughout the performance. Guests danced the rest of the night away to the live tunes music of Sincopa, who selected tunes to match the event theme.
Sophie Wachtel, head of the GPG Social Committee and our Venue Sales Manager at Sergeants Mess did an outstanding job planning the event in it’s entirety – theming, entertainment, prop, production and catering. She ensured a slice of Bollywood was delivered on the shores of Chowder Bay!

The theme of the annual event is always fun and different each year. Nights like these are also a reflection of the creativity and execution of our event planners, event partners and operations team. We also encourage our clients to use such ideas as inspiration for their own events.”
Needless to say, the event was a fabulous success and feedback was outstanding!
